This
year's Scouter Success Seminar is on
Saturday January 5th. it
will be held at the Bay Area Baptist
Church Located at 4800 West Main Street (FM 518) in League City.
With
more than 30 courses to pick from we should have something for everyone’s
interest. This years offerings include:
Salt
Water Fly Fishing sponsored and taught by Fishing Tackle Unlimited. The course
covers the basics of fly fishing techniques and equipment along with some
practical application and practice for both Scout and Leaders.
Winter Sports overview sponsored and taught by Sun and Ski Sports. This course
will provide and introduction to various winter sports.
A
Scuba Diving overview by Sport Diver's of Houston designed to wet the interest
of anyone considering Scuba Diving High Adventure.
And
Project Wild, an interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education
program. The goal is to assist youth in developing knowledge that will allow
them to make informed decisions and develop responsible behavior related to
wildlife and the environment. The core of the program is it’s three activity
guides which can be related directly to most of Scouting’s nature and
environmental recognitions (achievements, activity pins and merit badges).
This 6 hour workshop
will focus on illustrating the use of several of the 122 activities in that
book. It will also include one or two activities from the companion Aquatic Wild
Activity Guide. Participants who attend the workshop will receive a copy of the
Activity Guide along with other resource materials that will enhance the
activities in the book and relate it to the Scouting program.
